Holiday Shine Challenge Day 2 – Lights, Cameras, Action
Its day two of our Holiday Shine Challenge and I am feeling pretty good right now.
I have my projects listed…. well all the projects I could remember and am now ready to begin my action list. This is a total GTD move on my part and it works because I have been a GTD mom for more than four years.
GTD is from the productivity book Getting Things Done the Art of Stress Free Productivity by David Allen. I highly recommend this book and the audio series for your car. It will keep you sane during the busiest and most trying times in your life.
Actions:
Actions are very simple, for each project you write the next few actions that need to take place to complete that project.
For Example:
Fall Festival Pumpkin Bowling Booth
- Hang Sign for Volunteer to run booth.
- Test out rolling pumpkin on bumpy grass.
- Decorate the pins.
- Make Sign for Booth
For larger projects like parties and big dinners you will probably have several actions or ideas that will accompany that project. Just keep all of your actions and notes together and you will be amazed at how efficiently your visions and ideas are completed as your project comes together to the finished line.
I give each of my projects a piece of paper and some projects, for example: Christmas Dinner, require and entire notebook all on their own simple because there is so much support material and actions to complete to have a successful dinner.
Holiday Shine Challenge for the Day: Start adding actions to your Project Lists. Start with what needs to be addressed this month or even today and as the week progresses work on your action list for Holiday Projects in November and December.
