This weekend our links are all about healthy eating and a bit of learning about GMO foods and how to avoid them. I am not expert, but I truly feel that eating foods as close as we can to their origin sounds much safer than altering them into things of the unknown.
The best thing a mom can do is to educate herself on GMO, healthy eating, nutrients and then use that knowledge and buy the best food she can for her family. In other words become, educated and more aware shoppers.

First off, I love your challenge emails. I don’t always do them, but they are at least a reminder to reduce clutter (among other things!). This post really got me thinking. I am very frustrated with my local grocery store and its limited selection of organic products–especially produce. I would love to do all my shopping at a store like Whole Foods, but we just can’t afford it. I find that Trader Joe’s has more organic options and that its other foods (like yogurt, cereal, etc.) at least don’t have added preservatives, artificial colors, and high fructose corn syrup. I really never thought about what I ate until I had kids–now I want them to eat healthy foods so they grow up healthy, and I want to eat healthy myself so I get to see them grow up! (Ok, except for wine. And chocolate. And coffee. A girl’s gotta have SOME vices, right?)

yes mam,
Wine, chocolate and coffee are a must. lol But even then I have started reading the labels.
Thanks for stopping by and just in case anyone reads this, even though I write the challenges there are days when I do two or three at one time to catch up. But then there are days when just doing a challenge zaps me into some kind of super mom and I clean the whole house!
Moms Rock, lol

It seems like GMOs are everywhere! I try to buy local foods as much as possible to avoid them.

I try to buy local, but the farmer’s market has turn trendy with beads, t-shirts and tons of hummus. I can’t tell which veggies are local and which are imports. I need a better market I guess.
